Very few Muslim parents are in old age houses or abandoned by the children because of clear and strong religious instructions:

What practically bieng witnessed is that the parents who end up being in old age houses or at the mercy of others are mostly with one or two middle or lower middle class children. They chose small family earlier which later turned hostile for them at their old ages. More children ensures better options for the parents when they are old and in need. Generally when one son or daughter in law rejects parents due to any reason then other one comes to assist them. This sometimes due to responsibility towards parents but sometimes due to family rivalry. Very few Muslim parents are in old age houses or abandoned by the children because of clear and strong religious instructions for the children that they need to take care of their parents by all means, in one hand, and on the other hand, Muslim parents have more options to chose when they are old. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the prophet, the scrupulous regard for his pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and his own mission. These, and not the sword carried everything before them and surmo
