This is another
opportunity by Allah (SWT) for us to observe the fasting of Ramazan. This
Ramazan is very different for this generation. For some, it is a good time with family.
And for some, this is a challenging situation, in terms of personal and
professional life. Most of us are on an off, or working from home or doing part-time work if you are running an essentials supply business. Nevertheless, it’s
a different experience.
Everything
is from Allah (SWT), and this test is also from Allah (SWT), let us be a better
Momin.
Spend Quality time with Allah
(SWT):
You wanted
to do Tilawat of Quran, but work-life commitments and the travel time used to
consume a lot of your Ibadat time. This Ramazan you have got a lot of time for
Quran, Namaz, Taraweh, Dua, Zikr and so on. Make good utilization of your time
to make a good and stronger connection with Allah (SWT). This is an opportunity
for us to get closer to Allah.
Spend Quality time with
Family:
What special
opportunity does this Ramazan has for us. It has given an abundance of time to
spend with family. Do you remember the kind of rush we used to do to come back
home on time for Iftari. Now, this Ramazan you do not have to panic to rush back
home, you are spending quality time at home, enjoy every movement with your
family. Do Namaz together, listen to Quran together, do charity together, teach
your children together. This is an opportunity for us to get closer to Allah
as well as with people.
Do lots of spending on
Charity:
Prophet
Mohammed (S.A.W) is an example for us to learn charity, He (S.A.W) is the one who
used to give more and more, and in many instances giving food to needy by being
hungry himself. Charity is part of Islam. Charity is a sign of Emaan. In this
challenging pandemic situation worldwide, let’s open our hearts and minds, and help
not only our community but help humanity as well at large. This is an
opportunity for us to get closer to Allah as well as with people.
The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said: "Charity given to a
relative it serves a double purpose, being both charity and a connecting link." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 606
The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)
said: "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of
calamity." -
Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 589
In this challenging
pandemic situation please do cooperate with authorities.
Follow the instructions given by central, state and
local authorities (Reference https://daruliftaa.com/miscellaneous/obeying-the-law-of-the-land-in-the-west/).
Muslims must adhere
to the laws of any country they live in, whether in the west or the east, as
long as the law is not in contradiction with one’s religion. When one
lives in a particular country, one agrees verbally, in writing or effectively
to adhere to the rules and regulations of that country. This, according to Shariah,
is considered to be a covenant, agreement and trust. One is obliged to fulfil
the trust regardless of whether it is contracted with a friend, enemy, Muslim,
non-Muslim or a government.
Sayyiduna Abd Allah ibn Umar (RZ) narrates that the
Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: “It is necessary upon a Muslim to listen to
and obey the ruler, as long as one is not ordered to carry out a sin. If he is
commanded to commit a sin, then there is no adherence and obedience.” (Sahih
al-Bukhari, no. 2796 & Sunan Tirmidhi)
This Ramazan stay at
home, stay safe, stay blessed.
