What was meant for me will never miss me, and that what misses me was never meant for me:

Surrendering to His Plans & Timings

This step is the key to complete freedom, but also the hardest to do. Surrendering to Allah SWT is vital when we want to "rest" because we can't be calm and be at ease when we have not learned to completely let go and surrender to Allah SWT and His plans for us.

I'm still trying to learn and practice doing this but the faster I surrender and submit to Him, the faster my heart rests.

Remembering these things have helped me immensely in handing over all of my affairs to Him:

- Surrendering to Allah is not giving up. In fact, surrendering to Allah is the first step to success as you are letting the Lord of the Worlds, the Most Wise, the Most Powerful, the Most Compassionate, take over your affairs.

- Imam al Shafi'i understood this notion of "surrender" extremely well. He said, “My heart is at ease knowing that what was meant for me will never miss me, and that what misses me was never meant for me." And Who knows better what is meant, or not meant for me, other than Allah SWT?

- Allah SWT has already worked out a solution for me for the problems I've only started to worry about.

When we lay down our mess and run back to Him, admitting with humility that we are in utter lost without His Guidance and Help, that's surrendering.

And with that surrendering, will our hearts then finally breathe easy, and be at rest.

Assalamu Alaikum Alhamdhulillah ... By the grace of Almighty Allah, I reached home yesterday by the Delhi... Trivandrum special train. And now I'm under home quarantine for two weeks in the upper flat of our residence. My children and grandchildren are all away, so strict quarantine is made easy. This story about “Istighfar” is from the life of Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal, often referred to as the “Sheikh ul-Islam” or the “Imam of Ahl al-Sunnah.” During his old age, while Imam Ahmed was travelling he stopped by a town. After the prayers, he wanted to stay for the night in the masjid yard because he didn’t know anyone in the town. Owing to his humility, he hadn’t introduced himself to anyone thinking that if he did, he would be welcomed by many people. Failing to recognize Ahmed bin Hanbal, the caretaker of the mosque refused to let him stay in the mosque. As Imam Ahmed was quite old, the caretaker had to drag him out of the mosque.
